FAQ:

Q: Who is investor Joe?
A: ‘Investor Joe’ is a project group within the digital assets society composed of students with an interest in the space.
Q: Who is funding investor Joe?
A: There is NO real money involved, Joe has a paper trading account, via coinmarketcap’s portfolio tracker. (If you’re interested you can set up your own for free Link)
Q: What will Joe look at?
A: Joe will focus on high cap coins and tokens with solid and tested use cases that have seen some adoption. With the limited team and time, we can only dig so deep. That said we will avoid all blatant sh*t coins with a 10 foot pole for obvious reasons (ie. Doge, Shibba, etc.)

Portfolio Reasoning & Resources

I would like to emphasize that as members of the digital assets society we are educators NOT advocators. This Means that Joe has an alternative motive beyond % returns. He wants to spread an awareness about the space through fundamentally interesting, and disruptive projects which do not necessarily correlate with price.

Bellow is a compilation of resources and brief arguments as to why a coin or token is of interest.

Bitcoin (BTC)

An idea born from the failures seen in the 2008 financial crisis, Satoshi Nakamoto an anonymous individual (or group), published the original white paper. It proposed a new form of money without a central bank or individual administrator, where a Bitcoin would be verified via a blockchain removing the need for intermediaries with its innovative peer to peer network

Ethereum (ETH)

Ethereum was born in 2013 aiming to solve the problems that came with the disruptive technologies which was Bitcoin. Ethereum is a decentralized, open-source blockchain where it’s smart contract functionality has enabled it to gain market capitalization as its technologies have been applied to everything from NFT’s to decentralized lending platforms.

Cosmos (ATOM)

Cosmos is the solution to the problem that is the “multi-chain future”. In short the problem with the multi-chain future is that the continuous development of new blockchains will lead to increasingly more complex interactions between blockchains. Cosmos aims to provide an ecosystem which allows different blockchains to connect to each other, which allows for increased scaling, lower fees, faster speeds etc. for the “multi-chain future” we are likely to see.

Terra (LUNA)

Terra is programmable money that rivals against fiat backed stable coins (cryptocurrencies that are collateralized 1:1 with a specific fiat currency). With Terra’s algorithmically backed stable coins it has proven to be a rival to leading fiat-backed stable coins due to its native transparency and decentralization. With the growing demand of Defi the qualities of transparency and decentralization are likely to persist where stable coins are needed. Luna is Terra’s native token which is used to stabilize the pegged on the stable coins, a process of seigniorage (the video linked bellow explains this well).

Helium (HNT)

Helium has the grandiose ambition to take over the telecommunications sector with its decentralized machine network. The network is built up hotspots or ‘gateways’ that also act as miners (they look and act similar to a simple home wifi router). Based on the coverage that your miner/hotspot has as well as the traffic on it, Helium miners are rewarded with Heliums native token HNT. A few of many use cases include for these hotspots: IoT sensors, tile-like trackers, dog tag trackers
